Well it's Alison updating Tom's xanga again.  Let's see, this is finals week so he is pretty busy studying for those, yeah right.  He has basically been sleeping, working, starting a radio station, sleeping, etc.  I will post a link to his radio station now if anyone wants to check it out....http://www.radiomrpg.com.  It is affiliated with his Guild Wars game that he bought last week, apparantly a radio station for the game.  I dont know all that much about it.  He took a physics final today and has an organic chemistry one on Wed, then will be moving to his new apartment on Sunday and going to Houston for work/physical on the following Wed.  I dont know what else he has to say, probably some tangent about how wonderful I am, haha j/k!  See you ppl later!

Hey you guys.  Props to Alison for updating my broad-side (I dont want to use the word blog, and broadside seems good because it used to be like an opinion artical on one side of a paper back in the colonial days... "the broadside of the page," and they were typically trying to sway your opinion one way or another, I dunno) ... I suppose it illustrates the evil of leaving passwords on my computer :).

I've been really hard on Alison, lately, about her habits.  For her whole life, her mother (or someone else) has stood up for her, done everything for her, and now, she won't do it.  Her mother even calls around in B/CS for jobs for her... she's 21, she should learn how to do that kind of thing on her own, right?  Am I being too hard on her?  Like today, she didn't like her blizzard from DQ, because it didn't have enough Reeses peanut butter cups.  Right, I understand that, but then she just shoves it aside, and wasn't going to do anything about it, and wanted me to take care of it.  I've seen how she expects her mother to take care of it because she's scared of being embarrassed the guy is going to laugh at her.  So, it's a small thing, but I made her get up and tell them, instead of me doing it.

So, am I wrong in doing that?  I felt the urge to do it myself, and be protective of her, but still, it goes deeper than that.  When I'm not there, and her boss is trying to get her to work for free for the summer (crappy, everything thinks he's an ass for doing it, and has told her so), she won't stand up for herself.  She can't.  She feels uncomfortable about it, so she'd rather be shat on by her boss than hurt his feelings by telling him she really can't work for minimum wage, and deserves a lot more.

(This is part one of the Alison's Habits Series)

So, that's enough for today, tell me what you think?  Should I apologize to her?

Hey, it's Alison updating Tom's blog because he won't do it.  He is currently watching Simpsons and Family Guy, two of his favorite shows.

Well let's see, he had a good weekend. Mostly slept.  Also played lots of games of Phase 10.  He is done with school until his 2 finals next week.  So he is basically just relaxing.  Moving to a new apartment on May 15, so something to look forward to...moving.  I dont know what else he wants to say.

Hey Alison,

You're the only one that reads this.  Oh well, whatever.  I had a good time today.

My mother isnt happy about my oil rig job.  But I really could use the money, so I guess I have to do it.  It'd make it possible for me to do my 491 sometime in the next year.

I'm in a hurry so that's about it.  I'm done with school till finals, btw.

I love you, Tom

Aiight, so, my second real post.  It's crazy, this blogging.

I've noticed that everyone that's ever had any involvement in "academia" starts off their sentences with "So..." as if they were continuing a conversation or replying to something you said.  The thing is, I've started doing it, too.  I tend to pick up on the mannerisms of those around me too easily.

So, I was thinking about what to do this summer and my problem was solved (hopefully) when I was talking to my friend Connor on AIM.  He mentioned roughnecking, and I went ahead and checked it out.  I messages my friend Charlie (who's dad works for Nexen), and he referred me to someone that works for GlobalSantaFe, and he's going to get me in on an offshore oilrig this summer as an "RSBT."  I've not signed anything yet, so I'm not totally sure if I'm going yet, but things are looking like I will.

So, I was doing some research about roughnecking jobs.  We get paid about 300 bucks a day, and work 12 hours a day.  That's about 25 an hour, and then we work for 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off kind of thing (approx).  Pretty damn good money for the summer.  I really could use that.

Also, Alison is awesome.
